christmas away

The other night, as we sweltered in the late summer heat, Nikki and I decided to take Sage (and her nanny if we manage to secure a visa for her) to the US for the Yuletide holidays. It's very early, I know, but we need to make preparations and such, especially concerning the purchase of tickets. We'll take this trip in lieu of the regular time I take an annual break from work, usually sometime between September and December. Planning ahead gives me time to save some funds for the trip expenses.

This will be the first time my little nuclear family will spend the holidays away from home, and with good reason. Nikki's stepdad is gravely ill and the little girl brings him so much pleasure. We want to spend as much time as we can with him - he's one of the kindest and most loving men we've ever known.

We are also looking into the possiblity of cruelly abandoning the little girl with her grandparents for a few days and visiting New York; perhaps we can bunk with my sister and catch up with Rickey and other friends, catch a show, and of course, raid all available bookstores and porn stores.

It's all quite tentative but we'll see how things go. Though it's six months away, it gives me something to look forward to.
